In this congregation we baptize adults and children.
God
is doing the work, but it is also a witness to their belief and God's
work.
When babies are baptized, parents make a promise about how they will raise the child. It is our hope and prayer that every parent will fulfill their promises, and that every baby baptized will some day believe and know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
We acknowledge that an adult's decision to be baptized is different
than a parent's decision to baptize a baby. An adult has a "testimony"
and we want to hear it. It is more about what God has done in their
life, not what they are doing for God or for us. God has still taken the
first step.
We enjoy hearing the faith journey of others and
the testimony of others is encouraging to us all. Baptism should not
only be a ceremony, but also an opportunity to hear God's voice, to see
God's work and to look for a believer's response - a response Martin
Luther described as"simply a believing heart".
"Going through
the motions" is not faith, nor what we want for people as they consider
baptism!
If you wish to be baptized, please call the church office and talk
with Pastor Mark. We would be honored to visit with you!
